Doesn't life just hit you sometimes and you stop to think, "Wow this is really happening" or "I went through all of that to get to this." I had a moment like this the other day while shopping with my mom and sister at Ulta.
We were next in line at the register when my mom and sister Savannah noticed that the woman in front of them glanced back at my sister a couple times. After a few more glances, the woman finally asked Savannah, "What lipstick are you wearing? It's so beautiful!" My sister then tells her its Cranberry Stiletto Lip Whip from Beauty Bakerie and pulls up the @beautybakeriemakeup Instagram page to show her more looks from the Lip Whip collection.
I quickly pulled out the Lip Whips that I had in my purse: Versailles, Cranberry Stiletto, and Mon Cheri. At this moment I was filled with so much joy and gratitude thinking, "Wow. I'm working for THIS company that this woman is SO curious about." It was almost as if I had a That's So Raven type of reflection into the past year of my life rather than the future. Anyhow, I handed the Lip Whips over to the woman to have a look at them. She then pulled away from counter and asked me, "How do you know about this company?" I responded gladly, "I'm their Social Media Marketing Intern." After that she kindly asked to take a picture of the Lip Whips to remember the brand and shades. Of course I said yes!
After that, we talked about Beauty Bakerie and my sister went the extra mile and swatched a Lip Whip in front of her to show her how great the formula was. The woman was amazed to find out that the swatch on her hand did not smudge. Then, the most amazing thing happened. This woman went back up to the register and asks the cashier to take some items out of her purchase and turns over to tell me, "I'm taking some things out so I can spend the rest of my spending money on that (Beauty Bakerie) website." I was at a loss for words when she said that because not only were we in a chain beauty store, but this woman we just met was THRILLED to take some of her items out FOR Beauty Bakerie! Isn't that incredible? I know, I know...I was in awe too. I guess she too had a sweet tooth that day. ;)
Others around heard the conversation that took place and were curious, so I wrote down the Beauty Bakerie website name and social media handles on receipt paper, and handed them out. Where there's a will there's a way right? Oh, and the cherry on top?...Even the Ulta CASHIER asked for the same info and about my role with Beauty Bakerie. Ughh. Talk about such a huge moment of gratitude while all of this happened. I have to thank Beauty Bakerie with all sincerity and the fullness of my heart for the opportunity to work with them, my sister Savannah for doing a little PR leg-work at Ulta that night, and my parents for all their support in doing what I love.
